MJMS Boys and Girls Basketball Secure District Title on Road to State Championship

During the weekend of January 18-20th, the Mt. Juliet boys and girls varsity basketball teams went all the way to White House Heritage to compete in the Area 11 tournament. Saturday night, the girls basketball team went against Dickson county. After playing hard, the girls secured a win, leading with six points, and continuing in the tournament. The boys also played Dickson. The game was very intriguing, and would’ve made you jump out of your seat. The boys went into overtime on a three at the buzzer by Kenny Ellis.  The boys pulled out the win in overtime.

Monday night, the girls played against Macon county, whom they have played against before. The girls won again 28-17, which won them the title of Area 11 Champions. The boys secured an easy win against Greenbrier, also winning them the title of Area 11 Champions. Also, with the title of champions, four girls and four boys from each of our teams received All Tournament.  For the girls, the medals were received by Trinity Franzen, Skylar Brumbach, Sullie Gerik, and Regan Perkins. For the boys, the medals were received by Kenneth Ellis, Niko Duffie, Trey Majors, and Tanner Bolton.

Both teams worked very hard for the title of Area 11 District Champions, and are working even harder for the title of state champions.  The Girls play in the first round of the sectional tournament at home on Jan. 30th at 6:00p.m. and the Boys play Saturday Feb. 1st at home at 2:00 p.m.
