General Music

  • General Music: 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade

Students will have the opportunity to experience what it is to be a music composer, music producer, and even a musician.  Over half of the semester is spent with students’ exploring and learning to play at least 3 different instruments from bucket drums, boomwhackers, bells, recorders, to ukuleles.  Students generally work in small groups or as an entire class to complete assignments.  Most assessments are kinesthetic (hands-on), not written, and are done in class.  We will listen to and discuss old and new music, comparing and contrasting them to see how today’s music is a product of hundreds of years in the making.
